TV Type UE50E563000 When trying to change channels, using remote

Resolved Question:

TV Type UE50E563000 When trying to change channels, using remote control, the set seems to freeze up and will not change, (remote has new batteries). The freeze up is intermittent, and switching power off and then back on seems to free up the set and it will change as usual. Freeze up seems more often with BBC1 but other channels will sometimes do the same. When frozen while the red pilot light bottom right of the screen flickers no remote controls seem to work.

Hello, I'm Shahid and will assist you, I need bit more info about TV symptoms to troubleshoot the problem.- What video devices/ sources (such as cable box DVD player etc) are connected to TV and does the problem occur on all video input sources?- Can you recheck TV model number as it could be UE50Es6300 or some thing? Thanks.

hi I did reply to your Question. I have a Humax recorder which normally automatically brings up external source when working. When TV is frozen it does not connect. Again when power is removed from set then repowered the change to ext takes place.

Ross, thanks for the reply, I have additional info requests to diagnose the problem as I'm not there and have to rely on these info to troubleshoot the issue. 1- Is the TV connected to Aerial to get local channels?2- Does the problem only occur when watch channels through Humax box?3- If so, is the Humax box connected to HDMI input of TV?4- Have you tried to update TV firmware?5- Do you use Samsung TV remote or Humax remote to change channels and it stop working when TV freezes? Thanks.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

by the way, you are correct re Type no UE 50ES6300

Q1 Yes good aerial.

Q2No it happens when on freeview channels. We do not subscribe to any other type of input.

Q3 Humax is into aerial input of set and a dvd player is also in series with the humax

We seldom use these units.

Q4 I have updated the software as for initial setup.

Q5 Samsung TV remote. I se the Humax remote only when using the Humax normally it is off.

Thanks Ross for the info. There is latest firmware update available for TV at following Samsung link, please try to update TV firmware if it hasn't been done yet..http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/UE50ES6300UXXUhttp://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/FM/201404/20140428095147312/2012_TV_Firmware_Upgrade_Instruction.pdfOnce firmware is upgraded, please unplug TV power cord from wall socket for 10 minutes to reset, replug back in, turn the TV On and run auto channel scan to see if it fix the issue? If problem still persist then I'm afraid it would be hardware issue of tuner mounted on main board and main board will need to be replaced in TV to resolve the issue, if you wish to do it yourself then remove the back cover of TV and find sticker/label pasted on main board to get part number of main board that can be used to search/ google to get replacement main board price and stock info. I trust my input will help you out. Please feel free to respond if you have any additional questions.A positive rating to answer would be greatly appreciated, please click on smiley face/star on this page then click submit/finish button so I can get credit on website for my work. Regards,Shahid.
