My tachi 42" Tv (dumb) initially had a non functioning

Customer Question

My Hitachi 42" Tv (dumb) initially had a non functioning headphone socket, but suddenly it worked for about 6 weeks. Now it doesn't work again. I have viewed and changed some volume settings because the sound is too low to hear through the headphones. With the headphones on my ears and the selection of 'line out" the sound works but is very loud and I cannot lower the volume. Can I fix this somehow?

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble, Kate.

Do you see a setting to allow you to set the output to "Variable", rather than "fixed"?

On the headphone/line out setting?

This is in the 'Sound' button. No.

Are you still there?

Yes, I'm here. My apologies for the delay, the multiple replies can get lost in the queue.

You need to go into the tv audio menu, and there do you have it set to headphone, or to line out?
It should be on headphone, if you don't see anything else to set fixed or variable.

I'm not satisfied with your answer. I do not have a variablr

when it is on headphones, the sound is a whisper

Is this a hardware problem?
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

I'm sorry I can't give you a more specific answer, but without basic information such as the model of the tv, I can only give some general information.
I was simply asking you to CHECK if you had a variable or fixed option.

If you do not, then headphones is the proper setting, not line out, and you also then need to turn the volume on the tv up all the way.

If that still does not help, then it does point to a hardware issue which would require repairs or alternate equipment.

Can you give me the actual model number of the tv?
