This is Dr. David
TURP operation is relatively safe.
but there are risks for causing retrograde ejaculation
or urinary incontinence if too much prostate tissue is removed.
it is a common surgery like cataract surgery.
most patients recover in a few weeks.
you might need to go home with a foley catheter for a day or so, but usually this is removed and patients are able to urinate fine in a day or so.
TURP surgery cuts out the pathway of the urine and enlarges the flow passage so the urine has an easier time to flow out of the bladder.
