This is Dr. David. I am reviewing your question now and will be with you momentarily.

Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

I am sorry that you have this

do you have problems with constipation? hard stools and constipation can cause inflammation of your hemorrhoids in your rectum which can cause aches. small hard bits of stools can cause diverticulosis pain in your rectal and anal area.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I dont have constipation really. However when I have this ache and pressure it can be hard to poop.

But it goes away sometimes and also when I sleep. I suffer from anxiety which seems to make it worse somehow. I have lower backache too.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

bad anxiety symptoms can cause you to tense up your anus and pelvic muscles.

levator ani syndrome can sometimes cause this

Levator ani syndrome is caused by a muscle spasm near to the anus. The pain of levator ani syndrome is caused by a spasm in the levator ani muscle

are you on medication treatment for your anxiety symptoms?

Zoloft. Can levator ani syndrome cause the feeling of needing to defecate??? My friend has this problem and she has an internal rectal intussusception. But she suffers from constipation. Why does my pain go away when I'm asleep??? I seem to have it worse at the start of the week and it eases off towards the weekend haha. I always since I was a kid had this thing when I was nervous or excited I would have a feeling in my anus like I needed to poop.

I don't like the sound of diverticulitis pains in my rectum???
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

yes, levator ani syndrome can cause you to feel like you have to defecate.

your symptoms could be related to bad anxiety symptoms which can go away when you go to sleep.

Could i have a prolapse or something nasty???
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

no, you would not have a rectal prolapse or intussusception.

your doctors would be able to feel for rectal prolapse.

intusscusception causes pain all the time, not just when you are awake.

When I have a particular bad time with levator ani it can be hard to poop. Like I can't relax enough. Is this normal??? And is this syndrome caused by stress? Even just thinking about it makes it worse
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

yes, this is very common .

stress and bad anxiety symptoms can cause you to tense up your rectal muscles more.

biofeedback therapy can sometimes help you learn to relax your pelvic muscles.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Can stress and anxiety actually cause levator ani syndrome? Because one of your colleagues said that it camt
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

yes, stress and anxiety can actually cause levator ani syndrome.

and stress and anxiety can very well worsen levator ani syndrome as well

Levator ani syndrome is caused by a muscle spasm near to the anus. The pain of levator ani syndrome is caused by a spasm in the levator ani muscle
