Hi, My African Grey, Fergie is having a problem with balance.

Customer Question

Hi,
My African Grey, Fergie is having a problem with balance. He has been a clumsy bird ever since I had him, about nine years ago but the last couple of days he seems worse.
It is as if hiss back claw doesn't seem to hold the perch. We have clipprd his nails and put him larger perches in to see if that helps him but he still has falls.

It is some miles to my vet as I live in rural Scotland and if there is an easy answer it saves stressing Fergie with the journey.

Could it be a problem with a vitamin defficiency?

I have had an African Grey for over fourty years but have never had this problem before.

Fergie is still eating and talking. His mutes are fine and he seems fairly bright, just wobbly.
