Hi , I'm James DVM MRCVS and would like to help you with your question
The prognosis for the swallow depends on the sort of injury it sustained .
It might be that he suffered a sever head trauma which would result in ireversable damge to the brain tissue in which case he would need to be put down.
What I recommend you do is the following :
Place him in a warm, quite and dark environment with access to water.
and let him rest overnight . If there is no improvement by tomorrow , get him down to the local vets (they will not charge you anything) so they can assess him and if not well , can put him down .
If you think the extent of his injury is very sever , then I would advise seeing the vet still tonight to prevent any further suffering.
I hop this helps
Do you wish to ask any more on the subject ?
just a dish of water?
Yes , as flat as possible
so to prevent him drowning
will it need to have heat available all night or will room temp suffice?
If you wrap him up in a warm piece of clothing , and keep him indoors , that shall be enough
if you have anymore you wish to ask , please let me know
I wish the little man best of luck .
and please before leaving the chat , do not forget the rate it :)
I'm sorry you feel you got a poor service , would your care to explain ?
Your question whether to keep overnight or release was answered , if you wish to follow up with an additional question on the matter I would be more then happy to help
