DR.J :

Hi , I'm James DVM MRCVS and would like to help you with your question

DR.J :

Sorry to hear about Gretel .

DR.J :

Though very nice , TLC alone will not help care for the bite wound cause by the dog.

DR.J :

As dogs have contaminated mouths and their teeth hold large populations of bacteria - I would be wise to start Gretel on a course of antibiotics .

DR.J :

Start by an injection and follow up with oral syrup . A broad spectrum Antibiotic will do the trick .

DR.J :

As for the location site itself - I would advice rinsing with diluted salt water or even better - a diluted solution make from Hibiscrub concentrate which as well can be supplied by your vet .

DR.J :

It is very important to have the wound looked at to prevent an access formulation and evaluate the general state of Gretel and the wound .

DR.J :

I hope this helps .

DR.J :

If you have any further questions, please let me know and I shall do my best to help.

DR.J :

all the best to you both .
