My dog has had a droopy eye

Customer Question

My dog has had a droopy eye today...I assumed he'd scratched it on a bramble yesterday.....but tonight his other eye is the same and now both eyes are shut... he seems sore around the mouth area and is obviously uncomfortable putting his head down in any position. He cannot settle and seems unable to rest his head down at all..ive seen his jowls twitching as if they are also very sore. He is sitting upright but lowering his head down and to the side as if in pain.... his eyes are now totally shut.

Aloha! You're speaking with Dr. Michael Salkin
Would you say that Manny's face is also swollen? It sounds as if angioedema is present - the swelling associated with a hypersensitivity reaction such as seen secondary to envenomation by a flying insect or spider, a food, drug, or vaccine.
