My 1 year old Sheprador Max started limping whilst out wlaking

Customer Question

My 1 year old Sheprador Max started limping whilst out wlaking this evening and since then he seems to be in considerable pain as he is constantly whining and cannot bear any weight on it. Do i need to get him to an emergency vet to get it looked at?

Unless there's a significant likelihood of something venomous that has bitten Max, his lameness and vocalizing isn't an emergency situation. His pain, however, needs to be addressed. Do you have anything at home - even a human pain reliever - that I might be able to give you a dose for Max? (Ibuprofen and naproxen are toxic to dogs. Aspirin dosed at 20 mg/kg with food or paracetimol/acetaminophen dosed at 15 mg/kg are OK.)
