Vitamin A toxicosis is a chronic toxicosis characterized by lethargy, anorexia, weight loss, cervical (neck) pain leading to reluctance to walk and lameness, matted haircoat, gingivitis, irritability, resentment of handling, and possibly reproductive problems in intact (not spayed) cats. There's usually a history of eating mainly or exclusively raw liver. Confirmation of this toxicity is by seeing a serum/plasma retinol level greater than 3,145 micrograms/L.
