I need an IT expert!! My Canon Pixma MX420 has suddenly disappeared

Customer Question

I need an IT expert!! My Canon Pixma MX420 has suddenly disappeared from my MAC. It's worked fine up until now, and now the computer can't even find it (even though the printer is hooked up wirelessly to the internet and is "on" and ready). I have already installed updated Canon drivers through the Apple site, what else can I do?

Hello my name isXXXXX look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem.
Is the printer connected to the mac with a usb cable?
.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

NO, per my question above, it is hooked up "wirelessly".

Ok what model router are you using?
Is the printer connected to any other devices through the network you can check to see if it is working properly with them?
.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

The printer is not hooked up to anything other than another MAC book (which it has disappeared from as well). We have a BT router, and it's on and working fine.

Have you checked to make sure the printer is still connected to the router?
.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

It is connected, wirelessly. All the settings/PSK passwords are correct. It's just that the MAC computer can't seem to find the printer at all. It's just disappeared suddenly.

Please try this and let me know if anything changes.
You will need to restart so to get back to me go to justanswer.co.uk and click on my questions at the top of the page.

Turn the printer off and unplug it.
Then turn your Mac off.
Next unplug your router and wait 60 seconds.

Once it has been 60 seconds plug the router back in.
Then plug your printer back in and turn it on.
Last turn the Mac back on and see if it can find the printer.

If there was an IP conflict this should get the Mac to see it again.
Please let me know the results one you have done this.

I've already done this before and it didn't resolve the issue.

Ok then there are 2 possibilities and that is the settings are the printer need to be re-entered (even if they are correct) or the printers network adapter has failed and needs to be replaced. How old is the machine? Have you already re-entered the network settings (even if they are correct)? Did you make sure when installing the driver to choose networked and not local?
