I have been given a Sony sal 18552 camera but cannot upload pictures on to my computer. When I do the batteries go flat and nothing happens. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

it is an Extreme 45 MB HC 132 GB Sandisk

Thank you that is a microSD card. It sounds like for some reason the computer is not providing enough power to turn the camera on through the USB port as it should. So an alternative way to move the photos over would be with a card reader. You put the memory card from the camera into the reader and then connect that to the computer.

From there it works exactly as it would with the camera but will not drain batteries or require any extra power. Any local computer, electronics, or camera shop should carry them.
