I have a Lumix DMC-FX30 which has served me well for several

Resolved Question:

I have a Lumix DMC-FX30 which has served me well for several years now, but yesterday when I came to use it outside, the LCD screen, instead of displaying the normal colours, showed with a light purple background . It appears that indoor shots with flash are sort of okay, but external shots show up with washed out greens and the recorded picture is practically indiscernible. Any suggestions please ?

Please reset the camera settings using the instructions below. Go to "RESET" not "NO. RESET". Please let me know the result.

Press Menu

Select the Setup tab on the left (the Wrench)

Arrow right once

Arrow down to Reset (Not No. Reset)

Arrow right once

Press Menu/Set

Select Yes

Press Menu/Set

If the problem is not cleared by the reset, then, unfortunately what you have described indicates that there is a problem with the ccd (the light sensitive chip that produces the image) or the connection to it, and while your camera is not on the current list of cameras for possible free repair, the information at the link below does fully explain the problem and tells how Panasonic handled it. Since more and more models from the same time period have the identical problem the info may give you some leverage with Panasonic. Click on or copy and paste the link into your browser

You can contact Panasonic support at the link below using the information at link below

Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem. As with any "do it yourself" fixes, success is a "team effort", since I can't see or touch the camera, and relies on the customer's manual dexterity and ability to follow the instructions well.

Thanks for this Russ, it looks as though I'll need to contact Panasonic though, because the re-set didn't work.

Best wishes,
