Hi Dot, I'm sorry to hear about your camera. Can you tell me the make and model?
samsung x5 12.2 pixels. if u wait a moment a will get model no. from receipt
Ok, and how old is it?
Is it an ES90?
i think 4 years
Oh I see. How long was the extended warranty? 4 years?
i have a model no. of the updated one a bought my daughter if thats any good
i had insurance for ever
If you have the camera handy, the model number will be on a small label on the bottom of the camera.
ok c371c3025225048x i think i can hardly see it .
Hmm...that may be a serial number. In any event, does the camera turn off - leaving the lens extended?
it wont turn on or off, when i try to turn it on it makes a beeping noise, and the battery is full i have it plugged into this pc
i simply dropped it, and zoom is stuck out
Ok, this is common. The zoom mechanism is a series of little cogs and gears and dropping it has caused the cogs and gears to 'jump' on their track. Have you tried gently pressing on the lens to make it retract?
the model no. of the updated one is samsung EC-PL121
Ok, let me look
Dot so you have tried pushing the lens back in?
yes several times
tried pulling it out slightly too
Right. Ok, hold on please.
i push the power botton and try to push the zoom in but power botton just makes beeping noise
Unfortunately Dot, there isn't much else that can be done other than trying to coax the lens back in or out. The repair cost is going to be far in excess of the value of the camera.'
If you want to use a little more force, do so.
I doubt the warranty would have covered it either since they usually have conditions about 'abuse' and I'm sure that they would try and get out of it by saying you dropped it.
Just in case a speck of dirt got in the barrel of the lens, you may want to blow it out. If you have a can of compressed air, that works.
But I would probably try and pull the lens out to it's fully extended position.
I'll be here to assist if you need further help.
ok its came out a bit
Ok, keep turning it on and off. When on, see if the zoom lever helps at all.
no, think its new camera time thanks
Ok, I can suggest a few if you give me your budget.
Ok, hold on.....
my daughters samsung was £90 and its really good
