Hello my name is***** look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem.
What you are describing could be caused by a defective sensor. Have you tried restoring it to factory settings yet?
Since it is new if it is the sensor you should be able to return it and exchange it for another.

Darn, that is not a good sign. Unfortunately then I would return the camera and exchange it for another. You should not have this problem with a new one and if it was just a setting that reset would fix it. This unfortunately means the problem is most likely the CCD sensor needing to be replaced. If you have any questions at all click on reply to expert and let me know. If not please don’t forget to leave a positive rating for my help - it is greatly appreciated. Please note you are rating me only not this site or your Lumix.
