My Olympus C-560 will not switch off when I press the power

Customer Question

My Olympus C-560 will not switch off when I press the power switch. The lens zooms in and out several times before returning to the open position. at the same time the image on the screen is very fuzzy and difficult to make out waht it is when the lens is open. The images on the memory card do appear as normal when I use the display feature.

Hi,

I am Himadri..

Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck and try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only and let me know the result...

Thanks for your help but the problem seems to be the power button which looks to be slightly lower in the camera casing than previously. Having identified this as the problem I have put more pressure on the power button when switching the camera on and off and this seems to work. I also used a piece of paper to try and clean between the power button and the casing but whether this was a contributory factor in making it function again I do not know but thanks anyway.
