Hi. My name is*****’m a camera repair technician with over 20 years in the business and I'll be glad to help you with your question today.

This is a common problem with touch screen LCD units. Either the flex connecting the LCD assembly to the camera has failed or the touch screen/LCD unit has failed. These parts are no longer available from Sony and a quick check of my suppliers indicates these parts are not available from aftermarket sources.

If you can find one, the LCD unit is not difficult to replace. Simply remove the 4 small screws in the LCD housing and carefully pry the cases apart. A thin, flat blade will help. Once the case is opened, it's just a mattrt of removing the old LCD unit and installing the new one. This usually solves the problem. If not, the LCD flex cable will need to be replaced and this requires a major disassembly of the camera to accomplish. This usually requires a camera technician to repair as the disassembly proceedures are quite complicated.
