No warranty. I have updated firmware to 1.3 but still have the problem
Powering up normally and taking pictures. ( same as with sd card in). No touchscreen function at all now. Also , still not switching off sometimes when i turn the power off. Could this be a damaged battery issue as I remember my galaxy s3 having issues which were resolved when I bought a new battery. Anyway I have just bought a new battery from amazon.
Firmware can only be fixed by panasonic obviously, probably at a big cost. I will try new battery when it arrives. No point in any further contact with you as I have only been told things I already know. Thank you very much for the expensive and very vague help
No more advice required thanks!
Yes, this seems a more likely problem. I have fitted replacement lcds on a gf1 and also on various phones .I have also fitted a low pass ir filter to a gf1. Can you buy the ribbon cable or can this only be done through a camera repair shop? Feel certain this will cost a fortune at a shop.
The ribbon cable should be available separately from a variety of sources on the internet, including EBay and Amazon.Replacing it requires disassembling the camera to remove the LCD hinge assembly and then folding the flex cable in an origami fashion and routing it through and around the hinge itself. It can be done at home but I would recommend paying someone to do this for you. It is a fairly common repair so most repair shops are experienced in replacing the LCD flex. It can be a problem for the first timer. Below is a link to a directory of repair shops, one of which should be in your area and able to help you.
Can't find a repair centre any nearer than Edinburgh. I live north of Aberdeen. Think I will just have to use camera without the touchscreen ! Thanks for all the help.
