Hello my name is***** look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem. I want to warn you that it is possible you will need to replace a part in order to fix this. There are a few different things that can cause this and a couple different parts so we would need to troubleshoot to find out for sure. How old is it? Do you have another battery you can test with? Even if it looks fully charged the battery could be the problem.

It is two years old. I have tried another battery with no sucess

Are you using the same charger with both batteries? If you are can you test a different charger as well. Even if the battery looks charged leave it charging for 10 minutes.

The battery charges through the camera!!. Have had it charging for a considerable time after the red light stopped flashing on the camera - as per the handbook.

You should have an external charger as well. They look like this (ignore the car part only look at the left image):

It's nothing like what you are showing. It's just a charging unit with a cable that is inserted by a mini jack into that side of the camera.

Yes I know what you are referring to but as I just told you, you should have an external one as well which is what I just sent you a picture of.

Sorry but all that was included in the camera package was the Panasonic AC adaptor no.VSK0781.

The adapter itself could be the problem. The only way to find out is to either try a different adapter or a different charger. Most electronics stores would carry or be able to order a universal battery charger you can test. Some will be able to test the AC adapter for you with a multimeter as well if it is a smaller shop. Thanks - probably end up dumping the camera - thought Panasonic made good camcorders - very disappointing but at some stage I am going to have to admit the camcorder is not worth spending any more money on it. Not sure what Justanswer have charged me for this as I found the website very difficult to understand - it just kept asking for more and more money - so will not know what today has cost until I get my next Barclaycard bill. Probably easier to use my iphone for any future videos.
Cheers

You were most likely seeing an advertisement for the subscription. The fee from what I can see should be 18. Also as I mentioned the camera may not be the problem the adapter could be. Panasonic camera's as well as JVC tend to be very reliable which is why I did not suggest a failing board first. Kodak on the other hand tend to have a lot of problems with board on all their devices. I would be happy to help you find a replacement if you want to go that way. If you have any questions at all click on reply to expert and let me know. If not please don’t forget to leave a positive rating for my help - it is greatly appreciated. Please note you are rating me only not this site or your Panasonic.
