Brand new JVC GY- HM200 4k camera. sound quality very poor

brand new JVC GY- HM200 4k camera. sound quality very poor even with external mic attached - picks ups up sound only if 1 foot away from subject - further than that no audio at all. how can I resolve thanks Pete

Hello my name is***** do not rate until we are finished. I look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem. I want to warn you that it is possible you will need to replace a part in order to fix this. There are a few different things that can cause this and a couple different parts so we would need to troubleshoot to find out for sure. What kind of external mic are you using? The internal mic will most likely always be poor as they are never very good in these cameras.

the external mic is a clockaudio d700s. however the sound is also awful with this too.

We have reverted to using iphones for video currently and the sound and picture quality is fine.

I cant believe its so poor on this 4 k camera so Im thinking the settings are maybe wrong

Are you playing back on the camera itself? If you are can you transfer to the computer and then test a video? The built in speakers are usually no better than the built in mic. All the money spent on design normally goes directly to video improvements.

Is the external mic connected to AUX, or Input 1/2? Did you switch the audio setting on the camera from the internal mic to the external? Do you have it set to “MIC+48V?

Does your external mic use a external power adapter? Is it only the one mic connected or do you have a second you are trying to Sync?

It is attached to input 1

Ok change channel 2 to INT and change the Input 1 to just MIC, change input 2 to Line. Now record something with sound and test it for me.

took out card playback on pc also v quite with volume on max

Something like that may notwork great as a test since apple already compressed everything as much as they possibly can. Try saying anything to it for a minutwe. You also may want to turn down the channel 1 and 2 volume to around 5 while recording.

Can you test it connecting it to Input 2 instead (switch the settings as well) and see if anything changes?
