Olympus 35mm mju- Ultra compact camera. Purchases in 1996

Resolved Question:

Olympus 35mm mju- Ultra compact camera. Purchases in 1996 (no records)
The lens does not any longer retract immediately after exposure and so the frame is, I imagine a failure. I have renewed the battery today but no improvement.

Hi there and welcome
Can you remove the battery then hold the shutter button for 60 seconds then release.
Then put the battery back in and tell me please if you still have the problem.

I have done this twice.. No improvement. The lens contibnnues to "lock up" without returning into the camera body
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I have not made any further progress. Any other ideas please?

Hi there,
Sorry it was a few days before you replied and I was not online.
If you push on the Lens, can you get it to unlock?
If not, try resting it on something that vibrates like an electric razor to see if this can unlock it.
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I have done this for a period. No change. The lens still 'locks' in extended position.

Thanks
It is the internal drive motor or gearing that has faulted.
We have ruled everything else out that can cause this.
I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the camera to have it replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
