Hello. I have a Canon MV600i Mini DV recorder/player which will not release the tape although it tells me to eject and I press the Eject catch.

I have tried ejecting it in the upside down position recommended in the handbook and I have tried it in the upright position, the one I would use if filming. I have taken out the battery and the SC power lead in hope of 'resetting' the camera, but in every case, although the tape housing will push down from its mounting, the tape will not pop out.

Most of the time, the problem is a faulty rotary mode switch locate on a gear inside the tape mechanism. This is going to require disassembling the camera to troubleshoot and repair by an experienced camera repairman. You may want to check locally for a camera repair shop in your area, or, ifyou need assistance finding a shop, please let me know and I'll locate one for you.
