Hi, Please try a hard reset, using the following instructions..Remove the batteries & memory card and switch the camera to the ON position. Allow the camera to sit idle for 30 minutes. Then, switch the camera to OFF, re install the batteries and memory card, switch it on and see if the shutter will fire. Please let me know the result. Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem. As with any "do it yourself" fixes, success is a "team effort", since I can't see or touch the camera, and relies on the customer's manual dexterity and ability to follow the instructions well. hi this did not work

Will the shutter fire if you set the focus mode to MF (manual focus), located on the left sid of the lens barrel?
Expert:  Russell A. replied 1 year ago.
Also, while you indicated that the camera beeps, indicating correct focus, is the image actually focused?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
still not firing
yes the subject is in focus

Finally, if you have not already done so, so to the menu and select RESET, Not RESET NO. and allow the process to complete. Normally, this will initialize the lens and shutter functions. All of our troubleshooting points to the actual shutter release button as the cause of the problem. The shutter button is a 3 position switch where unpressed is basically the off position, halfway initiates focus and fully pressed fires the shutter. the 3rd position appears to have failed. Button and controls repairs are generally the least expensive, usually around £60, with local services able to handle them without sending the camera away to the main factory service. As a last resort, if you do not want to have the camera professionally services, you can try a small amount of electrical contact cleaner on the button, then drying it with compressed air. Note: Considering the age and present value of this camera, paying the cost of having it repaired , approximately £60 - £70 really depends on how attached to the camera you are, may actually make sense .. The standard "rule of thumb" is if the repair cost is greater than 50% of the value of the camera, it is not worth it. A used or refurbished DMC-FZ200 replacement still sells for £165 - £190 and a new / old stock unit costs over £250. Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem.
