We have a VW Golf 2.0 TDI PD. It cut out on our customer and will not start. We have carried out a computer scan, the only code that came up was the fuel temp sensor. We have good fuel delivery from the low pressure pump to the tandem pump. We have replaced the tandem pump and the crankshaft sensor. Car will fire on easy start and run,
but as soon as easy start is removed, it cuts out. We are totally lost, can you help?

Hello

if it fires up on easi start then thats good news

If the EGR valve is stuck open then this can effect starting so try disconnecting it to see if this helps or changes anything

Could also be an injector leaking fuel back through the overspill pipe, so not getting enough fuel pressure to tell ECU to fire the injectors, this is trickier to find and you’ll need the garage to do a ‘run back’ test to identify which one is the issue

Also worth checking that the glow-plug relay is switching off as they can stick on and leave the glow plugs also on - on some cars this can force it into limp home

Also worth considering adding a bottle of injector cleaner into the tank as a clogged injector nozzle will reduce power and give poor combustion - the next stage on from this is to remove all the injectors and have them ultrasonically cleaned and flow checked
