Hi, I have a 1995 2.0 Volvo 480 celebration, I parked the car

Hi, I have a 1995 2.0 Volvo 480 celebration, I parked the car as normal last night and locked it. I unlocked the drivers door today and turned the key but the engins spins over freely but will not fire up, I noticed that when locked the alarm light inside did not flash.
I disconnected the battery for an hour or so and after reconnecting it the alarm light now flashes as normal when the doors are locked but the engine still does not start.

Is it possible that the alarm has immobilised the car and, if so what can I do? can I disable the alarm somehow? or is there a reset somewhere?
