volkswagen passat 56 plate 1.9 tdi having problems with starting have to put pushstart key in at least20 times before it starts when ignision lights eventually come on you have to wait a further 5 mins till it registers then push the key in then starts leave the key in all the time it will start all the time help

The issue that you are having is the ignition switch is starting to electrically fail which is causing the key not to be reconized,this is not a key problem.The ignition switch will need to be replaced to fix this issue.
