Ok, I think that is the best option, with the electrical faults it could be dangerous as lights could fail etc..This can be something as simple as a flat battery, as the battery voltage drops below the working voltage of the control units, they begin to do strange things like this. Loss of power to a control unit such as a blown fuse can also cause this.

Worst case may be wiring (moisture ingress) or a faulty central control unit.
