We can backup your phone with Kies and reset your phone as follows:
First you need to Backup your phone to computer using Kies. Do not have Kies installed? Go to www.samsung.com/us/Kies and download Kies 2.6. After installed, open Kies. Connect your phone to computer and do a FULL Backup.
Then Factory reset your phone as follows:
- Go to Settings
- Select Backup & Reset
- Select Factory data reset
- Select Reset phone
- Select Erase everything
- Your phone will reset which will take about 2-3 minutes.
- Set it up again.
- Download your apps back.
Now connect your phone to computer and open Kies. Run a Restore. Select the Backup we did to reset your phone. All data will be restored to your phone.
If Kies does not recognize your phone for some reasons, we can backup and reset as follows:
Here are the steps to backup your Contacts to SD:
To export:
- Go to Contacts.
- Press Menu button and select Import/Export
- Select Export to SD card. Your contacts will copied to SD under a vcf file.
To backup your SMS text messages:
- Go to Google Play and download SMS Backup & Restore app.
- Open this app. Tap 3 dots button on top right corner and select Preferences.
- Tap Backup Folder.
- Change the folder to External Storage Card.
- When done, tap Backup button. This will save your contacts to External SD card.
When done, connect your phone to computer and transfer photos, videos, and other files to computer. Your photos and videos should be inside the DCIM folder. After all are backed up/transferred, reset as follow:
- Go to Settings
- Select Privacy or Backup & Reset
- Select Factory data reset
- Select Reset phone
- Select Erase everything
- Your device will reset which will take about 2-3 minutes.
- Set it up again.
- Test your issue if it is resolved or still have the same issue.
To import contact back to phone from SD card:
- Go to Contacts.
- Press Menu button and select Import/Export
- Select Import from SD card.
- Select the VCF file and select Import.
- Your contacts will be imported from SD file.
To import your SMS messages back:- Download SMS Backup & Restore app from Google Play.
- Open SMS Backup & Restore app.
- Tap Restore button.
- Select the file and click Restore.
- Your SMS messages will be restored.
When all done, test to see if the phone will still have the same problem or not. Please let me know if you have any problems. Thank you!
