Samsung do not lock phones so they told you incorrect information.
There are a number of locks on these phones, so I need to know which one you are referring to.
Is it the lock so you can use it on any phone carrier?
Or the screen lock to unlock the screen?
Thank you

I mean that I wish to use the Samsung S (old phone) using the SIM from the new one so I can utilise more areas that the old one gives me. So much better than the Galaxy Ace I have now. I want to use the Galaxy S as the phone with my phone number. I have changed the SIM over but cannot get any service to make it work. So NOT the security locks. I am told by Orange 'locked phone' as in cannot use as the handset. Sorry am I being blunt.

No problems Barry, but phone providers lock phones, not Samsung.
Just to clear up, who was the initial provider that this phone was linked to?

ok, now I am telling you also directly what the situation is so don't shoot the messenger.
The phone is still lock to Orange, they are the ones who unlock it. I have no idea why they say Samsung, but phone providers cannot lock phones, they just make them then deliver to a phone provider who then locks it.
Now, you have two options here.
Get Orange to unlock it. If they are being difficult, then you have to purchase an unlock code. This you can get on the below website, as they are authorized to unlock any phones.
It's an American company but they unlock any phones from any providers worldwide and are the cheapest.
But this is the situation Barry and what you have to do.
If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thank You Richard - do you want me to tell you what happens - what do I owe you?

That would be nice, just so I know you had no problems Barry
You only pay what you initially put up question, nothing more, and I am compensated when you rate me. If you could do that now, that would be appreciated.
And any issues, let me know
Thank you
