Hi hope you can help, this is a heavy vase have no idea where it comes from and would love to know, as you can see from the photos there is a dragon, snake and eagle with three ladies around, great carving detail and what looks like some gold gilding? could you confirm what it is, where it comes from, what its made of and the value would be great, there appears to be some sort of initials on the base by the dragon, looks like A.G (see photo), but unsure, this has been a mystery as been researching online for ages, but cant find a thing, Carolyn.
This is a carved bone vase made in the 1930's and representsHindu goddesses. This style of vase is still made today but with resins orwood instead of carved bone. I have attached photos of some made in the1960's, 2016, and one from the 1800's.The goddesses are in the style of Balinese and Thailandcarving, though these vases are made in all Hindu countries (India, Thailand, etc). The head dresses specifically indicate Bali. The AG mark is unknown. This vase has a current value of $200 to $300. 00.It is important for you to click the stars after you have read this answer.
