I have a whirlpool 6th sense washing machine that did not finish

This answer was rated:

I have a whirlpool 6th sense washing machine that did not finish its spin cycle it stopped and it still had 1 minute to go, after it had stopped and the washing was taken out and I then tried to start a new wash it would not start and the light was flashing in the door open
I have checked and the door is fully pushed home but the door open light still flashes and the washer will not start, any clues please.

Can you post the model number please.

Also when the door light is flashing is it actually locked so you cannot open it?

Hi when the door is locked you definitely can not open it

only information on model no I have is Whirlpool 6th sense AWM 8143/3 the only other numbers are 12 NC. 8570 814 15330

Made in Italy D235

Ok that's fine.

If the door lock light is coming on and the door is locked then its usually worn carbon brushes in the motor which causes this fault.

What you need to do is pull the washer out and lean it backwards against a wall and get someone to hold for you.

Then lay down and look under the washer.

From there you will see the back of the motor. Either side of the motor at the back re the carbon brushes in the black plastic holders.

Take them out and inspect them and see if they have worn down.

If so then you need to replace them.

Then retry the washer and see how it goes from there. Fingers crossed this will sort it out.

But if the carbon brushes are fine then you need to check the wiring in the block on the side of the motor. Give them a tug as they can break inside the block.

But check the carbons first as mostly for this fault its them at fault here.

If you need anymore info just get back to me.

Hi Daniel have just tried again set the washer to 30 degrees and pushed start, the motor does start for about 3 to 4 seconds then just stops and the door open light continues to flash.

regards David.

Ok just check the wiring to the motor and the carbons just in case its worn down but just making contact to allow to turn at first and see what you find.
