Customer Question

Hi, our diswasher is not draining fully and making an abnormally loud sound when the cycle first starts. We have tried cleaning the filter inside the dishwasher but the problem is still there. We have also tried to find the motor to check this but cannot seem to find it.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

How much water is left?
Above or below the filter?

Does it only make the noise at the very start and when it tries to drain?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

The water covers the bottom of the dishwasher above the filter. And yes the noise is only at the beginning and end.

OK, that's likely something in the drain pump, or, a restriction in the drain hose.
If the drain hose is onto a connection under the sink, take it off and check both for a restriction or blockage.
To access the drain pump, you need to take the appliance out.
Get all the water out of it and lay it on it's back onto some towels.
Take the base panel off (razor sharp so be careful).
You can now access the drain pump.
Take the drain hose off of the pump.
Press the locking tab and rotate the drain pump to release it.
Take out any debris.
Refit the pump (if it's not broken internally) and reattach the drain hose.
Refit the base panel.

Stand the machine up and try it again.

Obviously, if you cannot do the work yourself, you'll need to get someone in to do it for you.

Hope this helps

Hi there, we have laid the dishwasher on its back and removed the base panel, the hose goes into the base behind all of the other parts before attaching to the pump so we can't actually access where it attaches. Or see any tab to release the pump. How are you meant to access it?

Sorry, it attaches to the pump.
You need to take it off of the pump, which is inside the machine, on the left of the sump.
You'll need to look closer at the pump once you remove the hose.
