Smeg DWD155E-1 Dishwasher will start and drain as normal but

Customer Question

Smeg DWD155E-1 Dishwasher will start and drain as normal but the cycle will not complete. I can set it off on a cycle and all seems normal - dishwasher fills with water, runs, time counts down etc.

However, part way through the cycle will stop leaving the dishwasher full of water. no bleeps to announce the end of the cycle. No error code is displayed just the cycle number i.e. if I set off Program 4 it will start showing remaining time then, after the fault occurs, the display will show P4. No flashes or anything else.

On restarting any other cycle the dishwasher drains no problem and it runs the soak/rinse cycle to the end.

It seems to be a thermostat/heater related problem as each cycle runs for a different length and the error seems to occur at the point you would expect the dishwasher to be heating water for the actual wash.

Is that likely? How do I access the relevant part to replace/test?

If the heater element and the stat is ok this just leaves the pcb and wiring.Just check the wiring loom as it goes round the door as sometimes they can break in the loom.

If the wiring is ok then the pcb will be the problem Have a look and see if there is any burn marks on it that you could re solder as sometimes the relay on the pcb gets a dry joint on it.
Usually this will be either the Tstat, or the heater element. under the dishwasher.
I would replace both parts because they aren't very expensive and its a good idea to do this that way to ensure that you are getting hot water and the tstat will continue working for you:-)
The best place to get those parts is from espares:
