Customer Question

Our refrigerator ZERC 2620, seems to have failed, the light no longer works, and the pipes to the rear are no longer hot, and have gone cold.
The fuse has been changed and the socket works have you any advice as to where I should start to look.

I've had a look at the wiring diagram and if nothing at all works it would suggest a fault in the wiring between the plug and compressor connections or, the compressor and the thermostat.

Can you check the bulb in the fridge first to see if it's blown?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Yes the bulb has blown. What should do now?

OK, that helps narrow the fault down.

Hopefully you have good diy skills.

You need to unplug the appliance.
Take the light fitting/thermostat housing inside the fridge off.
Take off the thermostat know.
The screws are normally hidden so you need to take out blanking plugs (if any) and locate the screws that hold the housing on.
Once you have the housing off, take the thermostat out.
(take the nut off first).

You'll find the thermostat is marked 3, 4 and 6 for the connections.
Use a thin piece of wire to connect 4 and 6 together.
Plug the thermostat back in and loosely reassemble.

Plug in the machine, does the compressor at the bottom rear start running?
Leave it for an hour, is it cooling down?

Let me know what you find.
