Our Zanussi washing machine is about 3 years old it will not

This answer was rated:

Our Zanussi washing machine is about 3 years old it will not start, instead it make seemingly electrical "wiring" sound similar to a car starter motor which is not engaging. Once it is diagnosed I am more than capable of fixing the appliance as I am a plumber/electrician Thank you in advance
Can you post the model number of the appliance please?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Model ZWF168281W

Type H1956341

Product no XXXXXXXXXXX /p>

Thanks for that.

Is it the drain pump running all the time that you are hearing?
Have you had a blockage?
Have you cleaned out the filter at the bottom front?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Possibly the drain pump, makes sense, I'll check but my wife seems to think this is a new noise

As far as I'm aware we haven't had a blockage

I will check the filter shortly

I'm assuming if there is a blockage, this would make the the pump labour and obviously not pump out?

It can restrict the pump but if it's not blocking anything, it can make it noisy.

Check the pump, clean out the filter, try it again and let me know what happens.

Does your machine have a display or only lights?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

It has a display

OK, let me know what happens.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

It's the pump, many thanks for your help

Thanks for letting me know.

Good luck with the repair.
