I have a Baumatic Dishwasher BDI631. It has worked perfectly

I have a Baumatic Dishwasher BDI631. It has worked perfectly for 5 years but recently when loaded and switched on it start the cycle by as usual but whilst staring to fill with water it suddenly stops and there is an audible hum - sounds electrical? Any suggestions as to the cause?

When you hear the humming noise is when it should be washing?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Yes. It stops filling and starts to hum. It does the same on all the program settings.

Ok thanks for that. The humming noise will be the wash motor itself.

Now for this fault its either the motor or the capacitor. The capacitor its a small cylinder with a few wires bolted to the motor. This gives the motor the boost to get going and if it fails you get this fault were it sits there humming.

What you need to do is pull the dishwasher out and remove the side panels and the bottom base.

There you will see the motor. Check to see if its blocked up or jammed as if its jammed then the motor will need to be replaced if blocked remove the blockage and make sure the impeller can turn.

If the motor Impeller is free and can turn ok then you can try and replace just the capacitor and see if this cures it. Fingers crossed it will but if not then the motor itself will be faulty and will need to be replaced.

So check them out if you can and see what you find. But the fault will lay with the motor or capacitor here.
