Customer Question

one of our customers has a hotpoint bu72 double oven with a Diamond H single regulator 40er101c, the selector switch next to it has the top oven thermostat attached, and the full or half grill selection is attained by further turning top-oven temp knob 2 clicks past highest setting. Then regulated by the said regulator next to it.
Unfortunately customer failed to say he had removed the wires while trying to find a part number but was unsure where the wires went!
Initially there was no grill regulation, always on full blast with regulator 'click' coming in just before the '1' setting. Replaced two of the same regulators just in case, but no difference. Then they mentioned about not being sure where the wires went when they removed it......... :-/
As we found wiring connections:-

P1 - RED
4A - WHITE (possibly yellow bit dirty which links to lamp)
4 - DOUBLE-BLACK piggybacked

the only other spare connection points are 4,4A and P2 on the regulator

cheers Lee

You seem to be short of wires and connections.

The wiring diagram shows P1, P2, 2, 4, 4a, S1 and S2.
All except 4 have wiring to them.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

nope definitely not, the description you have given looks like a 48er dual regulator to me.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

nope that refers to a 48er dual regulator, this has a single 40er101 fitted please see picture...

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

sorry no p2 connection should be another P1

Yes, I know I'm describing a dual regulator, that's what is shown in the wiring diagram for the BU72

As you are posting a single, it doesn't match what Hotpoint say is fitted.

You'll need to trace the wiring and see what goes where.

Once you identify the source of the wires it should be possible to wire the regulator.

I'd also suggest checking the model number again, just in case.

hi our systems show a BU72K has a single regulator for grill as does Hotpoint parts list, maybe the K makes a difference. Sorry if this may have caused confusion

Could you please check for me, and if possible send pic of diagram??

thanks Lee

OK, you have a MK1 machine.
I'll need to dig through the service manuals to see if I have a MK1 diagram.
I have MK2 and /2 diagrams.

Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
Sorry, I haven't been able to find this yet.

I'll opt out of the question and open it to all again.

Hopefully someone will have the diagram handy.
If not, it's going to be Tuesday before I'm back in the office.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

ok thanks, will wait and see..........

will you let me know later or some other person?

Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
If anyone can help, they'll contact you.

Once I'm in the office on Tuesday, I can check the parts disc to get the service number and then find the service manual.

All the manuals are listed using a number, not the model number, and this number is on the parts disc.
