I have a Kuppersbuch dishwasher IGV659.4/07. It is the same as the Bosch varioflex model. The top mounting bracket was never fixed to the work surface , unnoticed by me. However a repair company is telling me this is the cause of a steam leak as dishwasher not sitting properly in its housing wheras I think they did not fit the seal properly after repair and that this bracket is purely to protect against tipping when loading. Please advise if I am right. The dishwasher had been installed for seven years when this bracket was pointed out. Additionally the swing room was not cut out in the plinth and they are suggesting this may also have been the cause of steam escaping.

In this case you are exactly correct, it is a bad seal. The mounting will not cause this problem.
Thank you

Thank you Michael. I want to put this in a response to the company so please could you say briefly why the mounting bracket would not have an effect on the seal and also address the second part regarding the plinth.

Hi Amanda, the unit would need to be so far off balance that yo would notice this just by looking at it.
Also even then, the seal has to be leaking to cause this problem.
I hope that helps you.
