Customer Question

Hello, I couldn't get door to open on washer drier 16830 but managed with string. I need to replace the 'pecker?' I think. Where can I get a new one. Nothing moves when I have door open and I pull the handle as if I were opening the machine.

You most likely need the handle, this is the part that normally breaks.
You'll see when you split the door to replace it.

Can you post the product number (PNC) of the appliance.
It's on a label in the door recess.
It begins with 9 so you need to prefix it with A so it's not crossed out.

eg A914419941 00

actually just ordered it from AEG website so think I am ok.

Is it something I can fix myself do you think?

Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
It's not simple but when you take the door off and split it, take a photograph of the handle and latch so you can refer to it .

Getting the spring in place is the hardest part.

Good luck with it.
Just post if you need more help with it.

can i just use a normal screw driver or is there any other more specialised equipment I will need which i can get ready before part arrives. Do you know of any videos of how to change this particular mechanism?

Expert:  Techdesk replied 3 years ago.
It should be a cross head screwdriver.
You may also need a flat blade for prising apart.

There's no specific video for your machine but copy and paste the following into a new browser window.
It may help on your machine.
