Siemens KG30U694GB/07 fridge/freezer. Freezer section not working.

This answer was rated:

Siemens KG30U694GB/07 fridge/freezer. Freezer section not working. Fridge section is fine, stable at 4deg. Digital readout for freezer is +18deg which is probably correct ambient temp, so I suspect that the freezer sensor (accessible from inside the freezer section) is ok. Compressor is running. Freezer fan runs ok. Red LED freezer alarm indicator on constantly. Any suggestions?

How old is your fridge?
Also is there any heavy frost on the rear wall inside the freezer?
And can you hear the fan in the freezer running?
Thank you for your patience!

The fridge is 8 years old. There is no frost on the freezer wall. There never has been any frosting. It has always worked perfectly until now. The fan in the freezer runs fine - I can hear it and when I remove the top plastic guard over the fan I can see it running and stopping when I open the door.

Is the freezer cooling at all?
Thank you for your patience.

No. The freezer is not cooling at all.

Thanks Jim,
This is most likely the freezer thermo couple (sensor).
I will help you replace that.
The best place to get that part is Ransom Spares

Hi Mike

Replaced the sensor. No joy.

Should I bypass it by bridging the connections to see if it makes any difference?

Thank you

NO dont do that.
That would cause a short.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Any other ideas?

Hi Jim, well at this point the problem is the main control board.
you will need that board to fix this unfortunately.
They don't fail often but when they do they will not get the signals from the sensor;-(
You can source the boar also from the same place.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks, Michael.

Youre very welcome;-)

Hopefully one last point.

Is that the power supply pcb at the bottom rear of the cabinet, or the one at the top at the LED panel?

Are you talking about behind the fridge?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Facing the back of the fridge/freezer, low down behind the freezer section, there is a pcb in a box screwed to the frame. It has three cables connected with multi-pin plugs. Is that the control board?

Thank you Thats the one you need to replace ;-)
Please keep me posted and I will help you all the way through.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Thanks again Michael. I have one on order.

sounds good, just let me know when you have it;-)
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi Michael

Fitted the new PCB. Made no difference.

Seems like it's time to call it a day and buy a new one?

Hi Jim, sometime you also need to replace the sensor inside the fridge, but it could be a freon leak issue as well, in which case it would be best to replace the unit as that repair is very expensive.
I wish I had better news for you on this I really do.
I am here if you want to try other things as well?
Thank you and have a great day!
