can you post the model number of the appliance please?
Is the fridge getting too cold inside?
Does the ice begin in a small place and grow or, is it a band of ice across part of the rear wall?

Fridge was getting too cold before we reduced the setting to 2

Ice begins in a small place and grows

OK, thanks for that.
Ice that begins to form in a small area and grows normally indicates 1 of 2 things.
A lack of refrigerant in the system or a hole in the insulation, leading to cold spots.
The first would need a refrigeration engineer to determine if there's a leak and if there is, if it can be repaired.
If it can, then a regas will sort the problem out.
If it's insulation failure, I'm afraid it's not repairable.
Press hard on the rear panel inside the fridge, in several places.
Is it soft and spongy feeling?
