Welcome, my name is Rob and I will be helping you with your problem today. If anything isn't clear, please just ask me.
Can you tell me, is this when its on gas, 12v or 240v?

Also, was the previous model a compressor type?

When the dealer changed the first one, did he say he found anything wrong, or did they just exchange it as goodwill?

Many thanks

it is when it is both gas and 240v, we do not use it on 12v, as far as I am aware it works the same as the previous 3 way fridge. The dealer confirmed the cooling unit was faulty!!

Hi Andrew

The cooling unit is the same for all three energy sources.
It would be extremely unlikely that you have another faulty cooling unit.
By far the best way to test this is by using it on 240volts.
If you were to start it on 240v how long would it take to reach the correct temperature and start making ice?
Does it actually get to the required temperature?

what is the required temperature, please advise what the standard temperature should be to enable me to compare

Hi Andrew

This typ[e of unit does not have a conventional compressor that makes a noise, this is to make it "virtually" silent.
However many factors will affect the fridge.

Thetford recomend that in an ambient temperature of 15 to 25 degrees, the unit should be set to cooling level 3. If its hotter than this, the cooling level should be raised higher.
This should be normal for most people, and most situations. However, if you prefer the fridge to be cooler, its perfectly ok to raise the cooling level.

From the "off" situation, Thetford say you should allow 8 hours for it to reach temperature. Thats not to say that you cant put food in there earlier, but it will take longer for the unit to reach the right temperature, as the fridge is cooling the food and "itself" at the same time.

I would suggest that if you are planning a trip, the best thing is to start the fridge the day before, on 240v, with or without the food in it. This way it will have plenty of time to raech temperature.

I hope that makes sense
