Indesit IWC 6165. There is power to machine, set any programme

This answer was rated:

Indesit IWC 6165.
There is power to machine, set any programme and press start. The red 'door lock' light comes on and the top light for 'washing' I hear the usual click sound , but then nothing more happens. Have cleaned out the pump and drum appears to be clear of any debris etc and able to rotate.
Have left power on and programme set and nothing happened, I did not switch off the power and when I went back to it all the top lights were flashing.

Hi, welcome to Just answer

KevinWhiteJA :

How old is this washer ?

2 years

KevinWhiteJA :

Does any of the lights flash ?

KevinWhiteJA :

or they just come on ?

Customer: They just come on as usual when you try to start it. If I leave on for a period if time then they all flash at the top.
KevinWhiteJA :

OK, did it stop with no water or full of water ? Can you check the lights on the right of the panel and number them with 1 at the bottom...when the other lights flash which lights are lit

Customer: It just didn't start, so didn't fill with water.
Customer: Light number six comes on to say it is going to wash and light number one to say door is locked. On one occasion all the lights across top, ones for Eco wash, intensive wash, extra rinse and delay timer were flashing but this was after I had left power on to it for about 30 mins after it would not start.
Customer: The lights I have mentioned flash green, the start button flashes orange very fast.
KevinWhiteJA :

OK, please unplug it for 3-4 minutes and then plug it back...simultaneously press and hold the START/Pause button for around 5 seconds to see if this resets the unit

KevinWhiteJA :

let me know how it goes

Customer: No it didn't work !
KevinWhiteJA :

OK, can you tell me which lights are lit from the right of the display...those are small indicators...I mean not the flashing indicators but the lights on the right ... you can number them with 1 at bottom

Customer: Light six and one
KevinWhiteJA :

ok those lights indicate Heater relay is stuck

KevinWhiteJA :

you will have to check the control board for stuck relay

Customer: Is this something I can do? It sounds like I should call somebody in?
KevinWhiteJA :

you will have to take it apart to check it...if you are not comfortable doing it yourself it is better to contact a tech...
