My centreal heating boiler will not turn off, the controller

This answer was rated:

My centreal heating boiler will not turn off, the controller is showing "off" the room thermostat is down down to the lowest setting, yet the boiler just carries on heating. Can I turn it off at the mains without harm?
Hi sorry to hear about that.
Is your thermostat wireless with batteries?
Thank you

Mechanical thermostat, no batteries.Worked fine yesterday, so did the controller.

Hi, thank you for that info.
What you need to do is disconnect the t-stats wires with the power off at the mains.
Then turn the power back on at the mains, if the unit doesn't run, then the t-stat is bad.
If it still runs, the the control board at the furnace needs to be repaired or replaced.
Also make sure the wires from the t-stat don't touch each other once disconnected.
