Hi I am sorry to hear that, I am Tech Michael
I will be assisting you today.
Please be patient as these are technical issues and may take a bit of conversation to get the issue narrowed down and solved.
How old is your fridge?
Also how long will it run before it trips the breaker?
Thank you

It is a fridge/freezer combination we bought end of 1997 or early 1998. The serial number points to a 1996 model.

Tripping used to occur about 2x in 24 hours. We got the heater evap.part from the US. An appliance electrician replaced the part. After that the fridge ran perfectly for about 12 hours. Since then it trips immediately when connected to power.

Hi this is definitely a problem in the defrost section of the unit.
What is happening I suspect is that when the unit wants to defrost(which occurs in about that many hours), there is a short circuit.
This could be the defrost timer or the heater itself or an issue with the main control board as well. Was this the reason you had the service tech out to check it?
Please explain;-)
Thank you

Yes, the service technician also suggested these potential sources. He checked when the fridge trips. It was when the heater came on (maybe also when it shut off). That is why I got a replacement for the heater. On a second visit - yesterday - once we had the part, he replaced it.No issue for many hours, longer than usual, but now it trips immediately.

Hi, I would call them back and ask them about the defrost circuit. There is where they will find the trouble;-)

Hello My name is Ian ~ I am not on the site constantly so please be patient whilst waiting for responses to you queries

I agree with Michael that you should recall the original service company ~ if it were me visiting I would firstly be checking that the new element hasn't itself developed a fault and then secondly get him to check that the defrost termination stat has not filled up with water or developed a further fault. ~ Good luck - Ian
