We have a Maytag American fridge/freezer [model no GC2225GEKB, the ice maker has stopped working and there is an intermittent leak from the rear of the unit. Please can you advise what could be causing this and is it a str4aightforward repair. Thanks Peter
What this can be is a frozen water line in the freezer roof were the water pipe goes through for the ice maker. So when it askes for water it doesnt go into the ice maker and instead it leaks out the back of the appliance so this can explane the intermittent leak from it.

When this happens then to clear it you need to turn the appliance off for 24 hours and leave the freezer door open and this will allow the water line in the freezer to defrost.

Once its defrosted then turn it back on and see how it goes from there. Fingers crossed that will cure it and get the ice maker working and stop the leak.

Let me know how it goes from there.
