Thanks Michael. My husband is in kitchen and has taken side off dishwasher. When we cleaned the filter a thin piece of plastic appears to be missing. He thinks this is perhaps fouling pump but cannot access pump. Any direction? We have an old Victorian house and unfortunately broadband does not reach kitchen area so I am go-between.

I understand. To replace the pump the best way really is to remove the dishwasher and lay it on its back for easy access, usually there are a few screws holding it in place, Then you can easily replace the drain pump. Your husband may be correct about the plastic part.
It is also possible something got stuck in the pump impeller that would cause this problem as well. Or even something blocking the drain line.
Have him check that for me and please rate my service at this time, I will be here for you when you need me;-)
