Hi my zanussi tc180 dryer is only blowing cold air. To be fair it's an old dryer and suspect either the heating element or the thermostat is faulty. If you can suggest anything that would be great. Do you know if these things have a reset switch?

How old is it and can you test few parts with a multimeter ?

Customer: We've had it 6 years but it was second hand and we don't have a multimeter. There is power to it it's just blowing cold air.

OK, as there is no heat so it indicates that the problem is either with the heater unit or the thermostat that is bad and needs replacement

with the dryer unplugged you can take off the rear panel and closely check the wiring to the heater and make sure that is fine

Customer: Yeah we figured that, I typed it in my original message. We were hoping for advice regarding further diagnostics to find which one and then how to repair or replace it please

a new heater assembly will cost around £75

OK, once the back panel is off you can test the heater for continuity with a meter

KevinWhiteJA :

no continuity means that is bad and will need replacement
