My Hotpoint washerdryer BWD129 (1200 spin) is not draining.

My Hotpoint washerdryer BWD129 (1200 spin) is not draining. I have had the machine for seven years. It stoped draining today and makes a loudish noise when it gets to the point where it is meant to drain the water from the machine. The machine seems to be working ok otherwise the other wash cycles I use seem ok. I have also tried selecting the pump out water programme but it doesn't pump the water out - is there a way I can do this manually until I can get an engineer out. Thanks
Hello, my name is George..

If you take the washing machine from its housing so that you can get to the rear, then ensuring the drain hose can lay flat on the floor, place the end of it into a bucket.... This will dispatch enough water to ensure the drum is mostly empty...

Once the drum is empty of water, if you open the filter housing you may find the cause of the noise, either a foreign object or a broken impeller... If the cause is a foreign object, simply remove it and the fault may be cured without the need to call an engineer.
