We have an error message on our built in Neff dishwasher together with a flashing tap symbol. It runs continually and it can be switched off only at the mains switch. I have emptied a pan of watering the machine which is empty of water and the water was pumped away. The error message remained.

Ok what this will be is water has leaked into the base of the dishwasher and has activated the flood switch in there thats why the pump is running all the time and the check water light is on.

To reset this what you have to do is pull the dishwasher out from unde the unit and lie it on its back. You will need a towel for this part as when you lie it down the water will drain out from the base of the dishwasher.

Once cleared stand it up right and retry the dishwasher and fingers crosse this cures it as once the water is out the flood switch in there will reset itself.

Hopefully this is a one off overflow which caused this but if it happens again then theres a leak in there which you need to find and fix to cure the fault.

So try the above and that way you should get it going from there.

If you need anymore info just get back to me.

Where is the leak likely to have come from. We have had no trouble with the dishwasher up to now.

The leak could be down to a faulty wash motor as they can leak but to be honest a lot of the time on dishwasher an overfill inside it can cause the water to leak into the base.

So it could have created too much foam inside which caused it to overfill into the base as this is very common on dishwashers.
